Entrepreneurial and Women’s Advocacy
Long recognized for her entrepreneurial impact in the State of Indiana, Billie has been awarded the Starkey Entrepreneurial Women’s Award and the Torchbearer Award for Entrepreneurial Advocacy, one of the highest awards presented by the governor for recognition of outstanding women. A recipient of IBJ’s 2009 Women of Influence Award in recognition of business and community excellence and leadership, she has also been honored with the 2011 Girls’ Inc. Touchstone Award, and was named a 2014 Central Indiana Business Hall of Fame Laureate, which honors outstanding men and women who epitomize success in the business world.
A nationally recognized leader for women’s advocacy, she devotes considerable time to this endeavor. She is the co-founder of the Indiana Conference for Women, now is its 9th year and the largest one-day professional development conference for women in the Midwest.
Billie is the past Chair and CEO of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), based in Washington D.C. She is the past president and emeritus board advisor of the Indianapolis Chapter of NAWBO, where she was the architect of its growth.
She is an executive board member of The Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC), board member of the Indiana State Chamber, Indianapolis Chamber, Indiana University Lilly School of Philanthropy, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing.
A business industry leader and serial entrepreneur, Billie is also the founder and Chairman of the Board of Verve Health, a worksite wellness provider with onsite health centers and wellness teams.
